Rykove, Ukraine Railyard / Ammo Depot Strike Imagery!
Rykove, Ukraine 46.3344, 34.7534 June 18th, 2023
TLDR; June 18th, 2023 UAF hit an ammo depot in Rykove Kherson Oblast, Ukraine with Storm Shadow. Pictures below!
Sysnopis:
The Rykove, Kherson Oblast Ukraine 46.3344, 34.7534 railyard / ammo depot was hit by the UAF on June 18th. Reports are the warehouse was being used as an ammunition depot. Presumably the UK provided Storm Shadow missile was used for this attack, due to the range from current Ukrainian controlled positions.
By the looks of the major secondary explosion an ammunition depot seems likely. Judging by the shear size of this explosion a substantial amount of ammunition or explosives was likely stored at this facility. The main rail line does appear to have some damage but no major railroad infrastructure appears damaged. I would expect the railway to return to service fairly quickly.
Background:
Rykove is a small town of roughly 3400 inhabitants. It’s located in the southeast corner of Kherson Oblast near Crimea. Importantly Rykove is located along the railway line connecting Melitopol with Dzhankoi, Crimea. Dzhankoi is home to an airbase of the same name.
Rykove also has seven major electrical transmission lines passing through it and is home to a large transmission level substation. Notably a large 330kv transmission line from Melitopol to Crimea passes through Rykove.
